Sita's Story
- [To protect the identity of the children, names and photographs have been changed]
Sita was abandoned at birth in a Government hospital. Her parents just disappeared shortly after she was born. The address they gave the hospital on was fictitious and there was no way to trace them.
Anjali and Arun were a childless couple of Indian origin living in Germany. Anjali's parents living in Chennai came to Karnaprayag wanting a child for their daughter. Eventually they adopted little Sita who went away to Germany with her new parents.
By the time they came again to India, Sita was a seven years old . She came to Karnaprayag with her parents who wanted to show her where she came from. When they went into the Karnaprayag nursery, a little toddler Meena came running upto Anjali and insisted she be carried. Anjali was charmed but it was Sita who insisted that Meena was her sister from the place she came from. She kept coming back to see Meena and kept insisting that Arun and Anjali should bring her sister home. Eventually Arjun and Anjali adopted little Meena too.
Sita today is a web designer happily married to Hans Schmidt, with a little daughter of her own called Tara. They came to Karnaprayag recently to ask if we could find a little brother for Tara. We are thrilled to be matching a child for one of our very own children and to continue a chain reaction that has brought happiness to the three generations.
